The Ancient Riserva

On the coastline between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo (Scopello), strong and proud, wild and authentic, extends one of the most well-known marine landscapes in Sicily: Riserva Naturale Orientata dello Zingaro. Born in 1981, is the first natural reserve in Sicily with 1600 hectares of Mediterranean plant life and a variety of protected.
It prolongs over a coastline of 7 km, riddled by wonderful caves. Vegetation and fauna will follow you in this experience and will enable you to deeply understand the relationship between the land and the people who lived here.
Ideal place for trekking enthusiasts, the Riserva can be covered by foot through several trails and three main paths: the first one runs along the coastline between the South-East entry (Scopello side) and North entry ( San Vito side); the second path involves halfway the first one and then passes on high Zingaro areas and then comes back to the sea; the third, the most challenging one, is a complete tour of the reserve involving the coast part as well as the high area.
